Sensex rises at opening bell June 19, 2009
Mumbai: A key index of the Indian equities markets rose 169 points soon after opening bell Friday, leading to hopes of a recovery.

Within five minutes of starting trade, the benchmark index of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), the Sensex, which opened higher at 14,321.98 points was ruling at 14,434.95 points, 169.42 points or 1.19 percent above Thursday's close.

It had fallen almost 700 points in the last two sessions.

The S&P CNX Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) too moved up from the opening bell, rising 1.01 percent to rule at 4,294.2 points around the same time.

Broader market indices also rose, with the BSE midcap index ruling 1.73 percent higher and the BSE smallcap index moving up 1.38 percent.
