Bhushan accuses PMO of thwarting Jan Lokpal bill December 6, 2011
New Delhi, Dec 6 Team Anna member Prashant Bhushan Monday accused the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) of defamation and "thwarting" the Jan Lokpal bill by "falsely" replying to a Right to Information (RTI) query.

Bhushan accused the PMO of submitting a "false" Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) report, in a reply to an RTI, on a controversial CD involving his father and Team Anna member Shanti Bhushan.

"The fact that the Prime Minister's Office in reply to an RTI query gave a copy of Delhi CFSL report, which was clearly a false report but did not give the Chandigarh CFSL report, shows the hand of the Prime Minister's Office and the union government in trying to defame us in order to try and thwart the Jan Lokpal bill," Bhushan said.

The controversial CD had a man, said to be Shanti Bhushan, telling Mulayam Singh and then party general secretary Amar Singh that a judge could be "fixed" for Rs.4 crore. However, the CFSL Chandigarh deemed the CD as tampered.

Meanwhile, Delhi Police have maintained their stand that the CD was original and not tampered with.

The CD was circulated to all media offices in April after anti-graft crusader Anna Hazare ended his fast undertaken to press his demand for a strong Lokpal.
