Is Nandkishore Mumbai's Satyendra Dubey? April 7, 2010
Mumbai: A week after the suicide of a BMC engineer, his family alleges he was murdered for being a whistle blower. They refuse to cremate his body unless a CBI probe is ordered.

On March 27, the convicts were sentenced by a Patna court for murdering Satyendra Dubey, an engineer who had exposed corruption in the National Highway Authority of India. On the very same day, in Mumbai, a 28-year-old engineer, Nandkishore Gadekar who had threatened to expose the corruption of his seniors, was found hanging inside his office. His family claims it's murder.

Rakesh Gadekar, Nandkishore's elder brother, said: "There was a 20 lakh rupees corruption deal which his seniors wanted him to deal with regarding some illegal construction. But he refused to do that and said that he will complain to the BMC Commissioner regarding the corruption."

Just two months ago Nandkishore had told his family that he feared for his life as his seniors were harassing him and had also blocked his promotion as they demanded a Rs 5 lakh bribe. He had also said that since he was from a Scheduled Tribe, he was subjected to racist taunts.

While police are investigating, the BMC claims he never complained about his seniors and he committed suicide because he was depressed.

But his family denied it saying, far from being depressed he was excited about a career in script writing. Nandkishore was also a cricket enthusiast who had ingeniously developed and presented to the BCCI this (over shots of the new formula) - a new formula for calculating results of rain-affected matches. A meeting on this was scheduled next month.

The Technical Committee of the Indian cricket board, headed by Sunil Gavaskar, was taken aback by his presentation, says BCCI Chief Administrative Officer Ratnakar Shetty. Nandkishore had come up with a completely new method, he added.

Nandkishore's family are now demanding a CBI probe into the case and have refused to cremate the body till justice is done.
