Hijacked Dutch freighter docks in Somalia

Brussels, May 29: Dutch freighter Amiya Scan that was hijacked last Sunday has reached the Somali coast, Radio Netherlands reported.
The minister of the semi-autonomous Somalian region of Puntland, Ali Abdi Aware, said the ship has moored in the harbour of Bargal in northern Somalia.
Aware has dispatched the coast guard to the area. No further details are known, the report said on Wednesday.
Pirates hijacked the ship Sunday, in the latest in a series of hijackings in the area. On board the ship were four Russians and five Filipino crewmembers.
The ship's owner, Dutch company Reider Shipping, said it has been in touch with the ship and the crew have been reasonably well treated. In the interests of the crew's safety, the company declined to discuss the pirates' demands.
The Amiya Scan, which sails under the flag of Antigua, left Mombasa in Kenya May 19 and was bound for Constanza in Romania. It was carrying parts of a drilling platform when it was hijacked in international waters in the Gulf of Aden.
