Get, set, glow! August 13, 2010
We tell you how to get that radiant fresh look in no time

While some people are blessed with great skin, there are others who need to work on keeping their skin looking bright and healthy. A good complexion can really add to your overall look and since your face is always noticed first, it’s essential to keep it looking its best.

The first step to good skin is cleaning. All of us are exposed to dirt and pollution on a regular basis that can clog the pores and make it dull and lifeless. Using a good facial cleanser is essential. Use it twice a day to get rid of all the dead skin cells. Alternately you can also go for a regular clean-up at the parlour.

Exfoliation is the next step. You might want to use a peel or an apricot scrub to really get the shine back. This can also help stimulate collagen and elastin production and aid in refining the pores thereby reducing chances of wrinkles. Steaming your face once in a while will also help open up your pores and get rid of blackheads.

Moisturising is one-step you can’t afford to skip. The skin, especially as you age, loses some moisture and elasticity and applying a good facial cream is a must. It will also help plump up fine lines and delay the onset of wrinkles.

Just like the rest of our body, your face needs to be pampered every now and then. At least once a month, try and use a face mask specific to your skin type. If you are skeptical about using a store-bought one, why not make one at home. Honey is a natural moisturiser, egg white is known to help tighten the skin and cucumber and yoghurt can help cool the skin during the hot months. Give your face a light massage whenever possible. This will help relax the muscles and boost skin production.

Finally, to make your skin really glow you need to master a few make-up tricks. Before starting on your make-up why not mix a liquid illuminator with your moisturiser and spread on your cheeks, forehead and chin. This will give a nice shine. Similarly, opt for a blusher with some shimmer effect or end your make-up look with a light touch of a highlighting powder. A sweep around the cheekbones will make your face look gorgeous.
