The list of all that Kunal Kapoor does – he's a poet, a pilot and a brand ambassador for Save the Child cause – is endless. Clearly, actor Kunal Kapoor is out to master all the trades he is the jack of at present.
And though the man may have just gotten over the 'Lamhaa' hangover, keeping Kunal still in news are rumours of him having replaced Arjun Rampal in " Don 2". But, Kunal is quick to clear the air: "There arises no question of replacing Arjun in the film, he wasn't there in the scene at all," he stresses and then clears his stand further, "Let me clear this once and for all – I was the first choice for "Don 2"! I did not replace any actor."
Have these reports upset him? "What I'm worried about is that such news creates a rift between actors. I don't want this to happen between Arjun and me," he says.
In fact, Kunal has quite a job of dispelling reports about him this season. There's another one doing the rounds about him playing the lead in Owais Husain's (son of artist MF Husain) directorial debut. "Not true!" Kunal again clarifies, adding, "There has been some major confusion. I'm actually not in his film. All the websites are full of this news and I even heard that Owais was quoted as saying that I am a part of his movie. I think he was misquoted."
But what has the actor excited is his upcoming film with director Anurag Kashyap, "Doga", for which Kunal is learning Parkour, an acrobat street sport. Kunal says, "The movie is based on the popular comic character – Doga. I've just started learning the sport in London. The art is difficult and I feel like a monkey as I'm expected to jump here and there. It is fun and funny at the same time," he laughs.
What certainly cannot be described as funny was Kunal's Kashmir experience while shooting for "Lamhaa". "It's an irony that so many things are going wrong in such a beautiful place," rues Kunal, recalling his experience, "Shooting there wasn't easy because it was election time and we had to shoot in the open with nearly 8000 people surrounding us, including the army and CRPF jawans. There was constant tension in the area. We were in a constant fear that anything can go wrong any moment."
But Kunal certainly has an appetite for adventure, considering that he'll shortly be granted a license to fly a single engine Cessna 172. "I have been learning flying that plane for more than two years now in Madhya Pradesh and after the monsoons I will be getting my license. I have a long list of things I want to do and flying was on top. Also, I love to travel. So, I learnt flying so that I can travel to places flying."
And for those who did not know yet, Kunal's a poet too. Given an actor's erratic schedule we wonder how this struggling poet, as he likes to call himself, finds time to continue with this particular passion? "I do write poems even now, but not on a daily basis. I do that as I'm not good at expressing feelings, so I do that through my words in my diary. It is a relief for a private person like me," he lets in.
So is this shy nature also the reason why he's still single? He laughs and says, "I don't know about that, and why I am single? Believe me it's because I haven't found the right girl for me. But at the same time I don't say 'Oh God! When will I have a girl in my life' and stuff like that... I am open to the idea of dating a girl."
