New Delhi: With infiltration bids being reported every other day, Defence Minister A K Antony has now warned of more such cases.

"The attempts to infiltrate are increasing. Our assessment is that this trend will continue, because people who are inimical to our country feel that the situation in Jammu and Kashmir is improving. Normalcy is fast returning, and they cannot tolerate it," Antony told reporters on Saturday.

"There are more attempts of terrorist attacks. Our armed forces are always taking precautions. We will take whatever steps are needed to prevent and defeat this," he added.

Others, who share his sense of foreboding, include the British High Commissioner to India. "We are clear that there is a continuing threat of terrorist attacks in this part of the world. Those planning these attacks, do - in some cases - have the capability to launch them," said Richard Stagg.

The concern is perhaps aggravated by news of other kinds of infiltration. For instance, the hacking of the Jammu and Kashmir intelligence chief's e-mails to the state's chief minister.

Authorities say this is no big deal, as Pakistanis routinely hack Indian websites. "Hacking e-mails is something that intelligence agencies keep on doing. Beyond this there is nothing to say," said Director General of Police Kuldeep Khoda, downplaying the incident.

Though the hackers could not access any 'sensitive' information, it is an embarrassment for the state intelligence that they had no idea their e-mails were being targeted, till the RAW alerted them.
