Jordan anti-Denmark campaign condemns suicide blast near embassy June 3, 2008
Amman, June 3: An anti-Denmark coalition of activists has condemned the explosion at the Danish embassy in Islamabad, but said the Danish authorities should bear the brunt of the responsibility.

"We categorically and strongly condemn the use of violence in responding to the systematic targeting of Islam and the Prophet," the campaign entitled "the Messenger Unites Us" said in a statement on Monday.

At least eight people were killed after a suicide car bombing at the entrance to the Danish embassy in Pakistan's capital on Monday.

The response to the reprinting of the Prophet's cartoons "should be confined to economic, media and diplomatic means and violence should be avoided", the statement said.

"However, the Danish authorities should bear the greater part of the responsibility for their failure to adopt deterrent measures against Danish media outlets for provoking sentiments of Muslims," it added.

The Jordanian anti-Denmark campaign, which comprises media outlets, professional syndicates and political parties, came into existence after a dozen of Danish papers reprinted in February pictures deemed blasphemous to the Prophet Mohammed.

They plan to launch a campaign on June 10 for boycott of Danish products, organisers said.
