Tendulkar, Dhoni inaugurate Vengsarkar's academy October 25, 2008
Pune, Former Indian cricket captain Dilip Vengsarkar Friday opened his academy in Kherwadi near here to impart 'free of cost' training to poor children.

Sachin Tendulkar and Mahindra Singh Dhoni inaugurated the Vengsarkar Cricket Academy academy amidst thundering applause. The duo were felicitated with a traditional Maharashtrian turban ('pheta') and sword.

Office-bearers of Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation, under which the academy falls, assured all support to Vengsarkar.

In his short speech, Tendulkar urged budding players to work hard with confidence for a bright future.

"Every child may not have wealthy background or cricketing inheritance but if you have the grit, god will be by on your side," he said.
