Efforts on to bring third front back on track Kushal Jeena September 1, 2008
New Delhi, Former Prime Minister H D Devegowda has initiated move to bring the formation process of third front back into track saying the possibility of creation of such a front cannot be stopped.

Gowda, who also heads JD (S) said no one can prevent the emergence of a political force against Congress and BJP. The former Prime Minister, who is unhappy with BSP chief Mayawati and RLD president Ajit Singh for hobnobbing simultaneously with both the Congress and the BJP for an electoral alliance in Uttar Pradesh, is closely watching the situation in the country. He said political compulsions would create a force against the Congress and BJP.

"A force will definitely emerge against Congress and BJP in the country. Some parties will join the force before the Lok Sabha elections. And some may choose to join it after the polls," he said.

As for as the issue of leadership is concerned, former Prime Minister is pitching for the Left front to lead the third force saying his party does not have any problem with Left parties leading the country

"There were some problems regarding Ajit Singh's RLD. BSP supremo Mayawati has her own reasons not to accommodate others. Still, we will persuade her and sort out all the problems," he said.

Gowda who had drifted away from the third front in the first two rounds of the meetings that were held following the defeat of July-22 trust motion in parliament, as he was at that time rather keen on forging alliance with the Congress to consolidate his party's base in his home state Karnataka.
