Tight security in Nagpur as JeM 'threatens' to kidnap Sachin November 3, 2008
Nagpur, Security has been tightened in the city following intelligence reports about a Jaish-e-Mohammed threat to kidnap cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar during the coming India-Australia cricket test scheduled here from Thursday, police said.

Confirming receipt of a communication to that effect from Delhi, city police chief Pravin Dixit told reporters here Monday that it was part of a nationwide alert.

While both the teams, scheduled to arrive in the city Monday evening, will have their warm-up sessions at the old Vidarbha Cricket Association ground in Civil Lines, the match will be played at the Association’s new stadium at Jamtha on Wardha Road.

The security is, therefore, being beefed up around both the fields as well as at the airport and other vital installations, Dixit said.
