2009 Twenty20 Champions League slated for September September 9, 2008
Mumbai, The second edition of the Twenty20 Champions League will be held Sep 25-Oct 10 next year, it was jointly announced by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Cricket Australia (CA) and Cricket South Africa (CSA) here Monday.

The three boards, who are also the founding members of the Champions League, had already announced the dates for the inaugural edition of the league slated for Dec 3-10 this year.

The second edition of the Champions League Twenty20 will feature 12 teams and will see 23 matches played.

Venues and commercial partnership details of the inaugural edition of the Champions League Twenty20 will be finalised in the coming days.

Eight teams, consisting of the reigning winners and runners-up from the domestic Twenty20 competitions in India, Australia and South Africa, plus the winners of 2008 Twenty20 Championships (to be held in October 2008) from Pakistan, and the reigning Twenty20 Cup champion from England, Middlesex, have been invited to contest the inaugural Champions League.

The inaugural contest offers $6 million in prize money. The winning team will get $3 million.
