New Delhi, Making another arrest in the capital and claiming a major breakthrough in investigations into the spate of serial bombings in India, the police said Saturday the terror module busted in a Muslim-majority neighbourhood the previous day was responsible for killing well over 100 people, by placing bombs across Delhi Sep 13, Ahmedabad July 26 and Jaipur May 13.

Two terrorists of the Indian Mujahideen were killed in a shootout with the sleuths and one arrested, while two fled.

Saif, the man arrested in South Delhi's Jamia Nagar neighbourhood and kept in the Lodhi Road office of the Special Cell, has confessed that the module, consisting of 10-12 members, was involved in planting the bombs, the police claimed.

They also claimed that Saif confessed to being the one who planted the bombs at Regal Cinema, which was defused.

The latest arrest was that of Zeeshan, who was held late Friday night from Jhandelwalan in central Delhi. The police alleged Zeeshan and Sajid - who was killed Friday morning - was responsible for planting the bomb in New Delhi's downtown Connaught Place where it meets Barakhamba Road. That explosion killed two people.

Police had recovered 12 shoulder bags and several mobile phones from the L-18 Batla House in Jamia Nagar. Police are examining the mobile call records to trace the two members who fled the scene after the shoot out.

Atif, alias Bashir, one of the key leaders of the Indian Mujahideen who was killed, planted the bomb at Greater Kailash-I, the police claimed. They added that the man who planted the bomb at Gaffar Market was a new recruit, and Saif said he did not know his name.

A police said that the probe had led them to the "roots" of the Indian Mujahedeen group.
