New Delhi, The top leadership of the Bharatiya Janata Party is currently passing through a very bad phase, as names of many of its leaders have come out during the interrogation of Sadhvi Pragya Thakur, who has been accused for masterminding September 29 Malagaon blast.
The investigating agencies have during the course of probe found out that local BJP leaders had close links with Sadhvi and other who planned and executed the blast, leaving saffron party high and dry.
Apprehending a backlash during poll campaign trail, the strategists of the BJP is now working overtime on a new strategy under which they have asked party leaders not to air their views on the issue without the permission of the party high command, sources said. The central leadership of the party, which on an earlier occasion had described the investigation conducted by the Anti Terrorist Squad of Maharashtra police as fabricated, has once again distanced itself from her as new evidences came into open.
The BJP Chief Rajnath Singh has reportedly sent an advisory to all senior party leaders advising them not to speak to media on the subject saying it can harm party's poll prospects in the poll-bound state of Madhya Pradesh where voting would be held on November 25.
Earlier, party had decided to extend legal support to Sadhvi, but when fresh evidences of the involvement of BJP's local leaders came up, the party withdrew its offer and directed the leaders to allow the law to take its own course.
According to a senior BJP leader the central leadership of the party has received inputs from the Madhya Pradesh, which say the rank and file of the party is very upset with the central leadership, as they feel the high command has betrayed this cause.
Sources said that former party chief and its ideologue Murli Manohar Joshi is quite unhappy with the party's latest diktat. Unconfirmed reports suggested that he is reported to have told a group of party workers that it is unfortunate that party has dragged its feet on the issue. It should have firmly stood behind the local leaders whose names surfaced during the investigation, Joshi reported to have opined.
While defending Sadhvi some of the senior pro-hardliner BJP leaders are in informal chat with reporters have been saying since ever action has its right and wrong ramifications, so Sadhvi's case should be taken up in that spirit.
