New Delhi, As the opposition Bhartiya Janata Party and its pro-Hindu religious outfits preparing to take up the cudgel on behalf of Sadhvi Pragya Thakur to launch a frontal attack on the Congress party over the issue of Hindu terrorism, the ruling party at the centre has opted out a wait and watch policy.
"The uneasiness in the BJP camp is evident from the fact that its own members are directly involved in the whole act of terror," accused a senior Congress general secretary.
There is a general feeling within the secular parties that BJP's plan to polarize the Hindu community on the communal lines has the potential of back firing on them because Hindu community in general is not communal by nature. The view that has emerged is that the hardliners who had been arrested in the aftermath of Malagaon blasts are bringing bad names to the whole community for their petty political gains.
Meanwhile, Congress is also contemplating to hold conference of religious leaders, who preaches secular and religious values to counter the saffron onslaught. The date and venue of such a religious meet is yet to be decided. Former Congress MP from Uttrakhand Satpal Maharaj, who himself is a well-known religious leader and has large following in the country has been assigned with the task of identifying and inviting religious leaders from all religions.
"Terrorists do not subscribe to any religion", said Maharaj adding the BJP's charge against the Congress that Hindu terrorism is coined by the Congress party is baseless as party don't believe in branding any religion as terrorists.
The BJP, which has on earlier occasion distanced itself from Sadhvi and other accused in Malegaon blasts, has now taken a U-turn and its leaders including party president Rajnath have openly been extending support to Sadhvi branding the arrests by Anti-Terrorist Squad of the Mumbai police as fake.
