In order to protest against Sunday’s firing in which three people were wounded, the Bhumi Uchhed Pratirodh Committee (BUPC) has called for a 24-hour bandh in Nandigram on Monday.
The incident took place after rumours that a CPI-M member had been beaten up by BUPC members. The anti-SEZ supporters claim that nearly 50 CPI-M supporters descended on Satengabari village on Sunday and started firing. In a separate incident, two anti-SEZ supporters were hospitalised after they were allegedly beaten up by CPI-M members.
