Dubai, The mid-eastern metropolis of Dubai got yet another extravagant tourist spot with the opening of the 'Atlantis, The Palm' integrated entertainment resort.

The flagship project of the Palm Jumeirah, the resort opened its doors to its first guests Wednesday, according to a statement by the resort’s office.

“Following an intense development period of long days and nights by a team of approximately 3,000, we are proud to introduce Atlantis, The Palm to our first guests and the public, said Alan Leibman, president and managing director of Kerzner International, which will run the resort.

“Atlantis, The Palm is an entertainment destination that is truly different from anything that currently exists in the resort category in the region,Leibman said.

There are 1,539 guest rooms and suites in the resort featuring private balconies with view of the Arabian gulf.

Entertainment facilities include water sports, salt and fresh water attractions and an open-air marine habitat.

Another highlight is ‘The Lost Chambers’, which brings the myth of the lost city of Atlantis to life through a maze of underground tunnels offering underwater views into the boulevards of the ruins of Atlantis.

There are 17 restaurants, bars and lounges to suit all tastes, according to the statement.

The Avenues, a retail promenade, features some of the world’s top brands.

And for those seeking relaxation, there is a two-storey, 1,900 square metre spa and fitness centre.

Palm Jumeirah is one of the three palm-shaped artificial islands made on reclaimed land by leading Dubai-based real estate developer Nakheel.
