JD (U) gives sleepless nights to BJP over Malegaon incident Kushal Jeena October 31, 2008
New Delhi, The top leadership of Bhartiya Janata Party appears to be in a fix over the fate of National Democratic Alliance as Janata Dal (United), a key allies has threatened rock the alliance boat during crucial election time fearing Muslim backlash that could damage
the socialist outfit. The JD (U) leaders have been giving sleepless nights to the BJP strategists, who are already reeling under attack from all quarters.

With the role of Hindu right wing extremist group coming to the fore in the aftermath of the Malegaon attack revealing close links of the outfit with the top leadership of the BJP. The NDA partners are feeling the heat of the bizarre exposure.

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Party, Chief, Sharad Yadav on Sunday held a close door meeting in the capital and discussed the possible fallout of Malegaon development in which Anti Terrorist Squad of the Mumbai Police claimed that the September 29 blast was the handiwork of the a Hindu extremist organization. which is linked with the BJP.

"The probe into the Malegaon incident is still on and party have not taken any final call on the issue," said Sharad Yadav, President of the JD (U). Yadav is among the NDA leaders who are extremely unhappy with the BJP leadership for its failure to control such activists and frontal organizations.

He feels that if party don't take any action then it can face backlash among Muslim community, which can easily upset the applecart of the NDA giving clear advantage to the ruling United Progressive Alliance. The JD leaders had expressed their displeasure with the BJP leaders during Amarnath Shrine Board row in Jammu and recent incidents of atrocities against Christians in Kandhamal district of Orissa.

Yadav is more worried because elected Muslim representatives have also questioned the secular credentials of the JD (U). The party leadership is apprehensive that if no decision is taken by the BJP to contain the violent activities of its affiliates, then Rashtriya Janata Dal, President Lalu Prasad Yadav could exploit the situation in his favour in the coming general election particularly in Bihar.

In a bid to prevail upon its allies to stay put, the BJP leadership is burning midnight oil to pacify it's a partners urging them not to take any haste decision on the alliance issue as it could trigger chain reaction among the partners and can force other partners of the NDA alliance to maintain distance from the BJP.
