Airport employees go on indefinite strike March 11, 2008
The operations of airports across the country has been affected on Wednesday morning as a result of the strike called by the airport employees. Thousands of employees have gone on strike from Tuesday midnight. The Airport Authority Employees Joint Forum has called the strike.

The employees are demanding that the existing Bangalore and Hyderabad airports should continue operations. However, this demand has been rejected by the civil aviation ministry during talks with the employees union leaders.

Under the contract with the builders of the new airports in the two cities, the existing airports have to be closed once the new airports become operational.

As because a large number of international flights take off late at night from various airports around the country, it is assumed that the strike may have a direct impact on the flight schedule. It is not certain when the employees are going to end their strike.
