SIMI activist linked to Ahmedabad bombings arrested in Lucknow August 16, 2008
Lucknow, A Students' Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) activist allegedly linked to the Ahmedabad serial bombings was arrested from Lucknow's Moulviganj area by the Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) Saturday.

ATS sources claim the SIMI activist, Mufti Abdul Bashr Islahi, could provide vital clues to the July 26 serial blasts in Gujarat's commercial capital Ahmedabad in which 55 people were killed and over 150 injured.

Bashr belongs to Binapara village in Azamgarh district of eastern Uttar Pradesh. The ATS is expected to take him to Ahmedabad. He will be interrogated there.
