Amarnath wants Bengal cricketers to rise to the challenge September 16, 2008
Kolkata, Many a time during his long international career, Mohinder Amarnath seemed down and out, only to rise like the phoenix to get his detractors wrong.

Now here as consultant of the Bengal team, which got relegated to the plate division of the Ranji Trophy last year, Amarnath wants to infuse the same never-say-die attitude in his players.

"If everything is good, then there is no challenge. What is the point? Life is one big challenge," Amarnath told reporters after his first day of interaction with the Bengal cricketers Monday.

Amarnath exuded confidence that the team would put up a better show in the coming season. "These are very good players, but they had a bad season. The players and I are hopeful that we will have a better season this time".

Asked about his new role, the former Indian team right hander said: "I am to juggle between my television commitments and I have to keep coming back and coordinate with the local coach Utpal Chatterjee".

Amarnath said he did not have much idea about the Bengal players, as he had not watched much first class cricket recently.

To a query about his message to his wards, he said: "They should try to cement their places in the side".
