Adlabs Cinemas to build 15-screen multiplex in Mumbai dmanewsdesk July 18, 2008
Mumbai,Adlabs Cinemas, the movie exhibition arm of Reliance Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group (R-ADAG), has clinched a deal with a consortium to construct a 15-screen multiplex here, a top company official said Thursday.

The consortium led by Phoenix Mills and Adlabs will construct the multiplex at the Phoenix Market City on a 4.05 million square feet plot at Kurla in Mumbai. The multiplex will have a floor area of 140,000 square feet and a 4,000-seat capacity.

Apart from regular screens which will show the latest releases, the Adlabs "megaplex" will also screen popular sports events and live concerts. Additionally, it will have two luxury screens.

"It is our endeavour to offer audiences a wide variety of viewing experiences. The Ebony Lounge will have live band performances round the year. It will add novelty and uniqueness to the cinema experience in India," Adlabs Cinemas chief operating officer Tushar Dhingra told IANS Thursday.

The "megaplex" will be built at a cost of Rs.400-million and is expected to be ready by 2010.

Adlabs Cinemas Thursday also announced the launch of an exclusive weekend club for children and teenagers in order to attract them to its 66 properties across the country.

Under the scheme, children will have to register at multiplexes to become members of the club, christened 'Kids 101'.

The club will organise interactive activities, contests and games for its members every Sunday at each property of Adlabs Cinemas.
