With an exuberant performance, India have won the CB Series in a thrilling final in Brisbane against Australia on Tuesday. This is India’s first win in the CB series. India won the toss and decided to bat on a surface which overtly favoured the batsmen.
Earlier, Sachin Tendulkar missed scoring his second successive century by nine runs as India piled up a competitive 258 for 9 against Australia in the second finals of the cricket tri-series on Tuesday. Tendulkar faced 121 balls and hit seven fours as he gauged the slowish pace of the Gabba pitch to perfection and provided the heart to the Indian response.
Tendulkar's departure followed the wickets of Robin Uthappa (30), Gautam Gambhir (15) and Yuvraj Singh (38), with Clarke improving his return to 2 for 48.
Tendulkar tapped Lee over point for his first four and then straight drove Stuart Clark to get moving. There was an audacious pull to the left of mid-on and then the flap over slips off Mitchell Johnson which now is his established method of dealing with the left-arm paceman.
The master blaster looked comfortable in reaching his half-century, backing up the stellar century which guided India to victory in game one on Sunday night.
India made one change from the XI which played in Sydney with S. Sreesanth replacing injured Ishant Sharma while Australia brought in Stuart Clark in place of Brad Hogg.
