India’s win in CB Series turns into a great experience March 5, 2008
India led by Mahendra Singh Dhoni had a historic win against world champions Australia at Gabba in Brisbane on Tuesday. The young Indian team backed by master blaster Sachin Tendulkar won the second match of the best-of-three final of the CB Series to lift the trophy.
Australian Captain Ricky Ponting has said that controversies did not take a toll on his team. He admitted that he came out looking bad in this series, even though he personally was not involved in anything. In deed, Ponting wasn't too gracious about Harbhajan Singh saying the off-spinner had a good tour, but that he would be relieved to get home after all that he has gone through.

"The tour will be remembered for its controversy, the players will remember the series from how big, how tough and how enjoyable the series was to be a part of," said Ponting.

However, Ponting spoke highly in praise for Indian player Ishant Sharma, who the former thinks has been the standout young player in the Indian set up through the tour.

Meanwhile Australian wicketkeeper-batsman, Adam Gilchrist also bid farewell to international cricket on Tuesday, ending up on the losing side when India beat Australia in the tri-series finals in Brisbane.
“It has been a long farewell I guess since over a month ago that I announced my intention to retire. It was not planned or anything, we were just there readying for the finals, no doubt about that,” Gilchrist said.
