Shah Rukh Khan to take kids to FIFA World Cup June 9, 2010
New Delhi: Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan will be sharing his passion for soccer with his kids as he plans to take them to South Africa for the FIFA World Cup.

The 44-year-old superstar will be taking Aryan and Suhana to the matches which start this Friday.

"Taking kids for the matches (World Cup) in South Africa," Shah Rukh wrote on his Twitter account.

The actor added that he is nostalgic about the soccer world cup which he used to watch with his mother.

"I am emotional about FIFA. My mom and me used to stay up and watch all night...because we had got ourselves a TV and only soccer post Doordarshan. (We) Used to keep up all night watching Rudi Voller (Germany), Karl-Heinz Rummenigge (West Germany), Socrates (Brazil) and Diego Maradona (Argentina). Mom and me soccer and TV fans. Never miss matches and always miss mom," he wrote.

The actor added, "Wish my mom was here, would have taken her with me. Our favourites r argentina, brazil, germany & spain...england will do well too i think (sic)."

But the actor, owner of IPL team Kolkata Knight Riders lamented that the sport is not so popular in India.

"I am surprised that we were the only developing nation which did not take to football. Hope new generation takes it up now that we are leaders.

"Yes interesting story...india qualified in 1950 but someone told me v withdrew cos not used to playing with soccer shoes & lack of funds," the actor added.

The superstar, who loves to play coach to his daughter Suhana and her friends, is a big fan of not one or two but an array of soccer stars from Ronaldo to Kaka.

"zico, platini, beckenbeuer, paolo rossi & later baggio, ronaldinho. so graceful and strong. soccer is beautiful...will play today if it rains. messi unbelievable.
