Cabinet clears funds for Commonwealth Games venues March 27, 2008
New Delhi, March 27: The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs on Thursday approved an allocation of Rs.2.57 billion put by the ministry of youth affairs and sports for the development and renovation of competition venues for the 2010 Commonwealth Games to be held here.

The selected venues for the Games include Delhi University, Jamia Milia Islamia University and Delhi Public School, R.K.Puram.

Of the total amount, Rs.2.22 billion have been allocated for upgrading the venues at Delhi University, which would be executed by M/s Engineers India Limited while Rs.340 million have been assigned to Jamia Milia Islamia University and will be looked after by RITES Ltd. Delhi Public School has been given an amount of Rs.174 million and the project would be carried out by the Central Public Works Department.

All these venues will be completed by December 2009.
