Amit Kumar refuses forceful kidney transplants March 4, 2008
Dr. Amit Kumar, key accused in the kidney transplant scam, has denied charges of forceful kidney transplants. He rather claims that the patients used to bring their own donors.
Kumar who was hiding in Nepal before was caught by Nepalese police said that he has never removed anyone's kidney without their consent. “The patients brought their own donor. We simply rendered them professional help. How can one think that we took the kidney out of a person illegally and just plant it on someone else’s body?” said Kumar.

“Yes, I have worked in Jaipur for some time and then set up my own unit in Gurgaon where I have been working for the past 10 years now. Moreover, I have not worked under any assumed names. I have only one name and that is Amit Kumar,” the doctor said.

Meanwhile, even though the kidney kingpin has denied all the charges, a CBI inquiry has been ordered into the case.
